hey all im new here and to the honda world i picked this 92 civic dx up from a kid and its not running went to try to start it and it trys to turn over, then all of a sudden it started shooting flames out of the intake manifold. i have no clue what it could be anyone got any ideas? thanks.

 

Just off the top of my head with the limited information. I would take a guess at the timing physically being off or the intake valves are not properly adjusted. (valve clearance way too tight)

 

That sounds like timing or the map sensor unplugged check all the plugs and check the timing or the valve clearance.

 

double-check the plug wire orientation.

i've had mysterious backfires upon start-up happen to me when first trying to start my freshly swapped JDM B18CR... after much frustation i found out they randomly put on the plugwires somewhere in the shipping/handling process.
