carbureted sohc zc mechanical timing question
Hey guys
I just put in a sohc zc with carbs. I took the carbs off and just swapped in my d16a6 manifold and all other parts.
Now though, I don't know how to set the mechanical timing.
Is it the regular dx hf setup parallel to the cylinder head or the si method where I align the cam mark with the rear timing belt cover
oh and it is in a 91 crx si stock pm6 ecu
I have the crank pulley setup right I just need the camshaft .

edit, If anyone knows the ignition timing that would be nice to know because the d16a6 is 18 btdc
not sure what the carb sohc zc specs are
I know everyone says it's the same as the d16a6 but I don't know if thats the mpfi or carb version, or if they are the same

So either I was wrong on the mechanical timing or the ignition timing is suppose to be 16 btdc

it all should be exactly the same, the camgear fits only one way to the cam and the marks should only line up one way as well. drop a long zip tie into the first cylinder through the plug hole and rotate the engine until you see it top up.
I found the tdc on the crank.
The cam gear is already on. The one messing me up is what do I line up the cam gear with when I tighten down the belt? The difference between the dx/hf and si is only 1-2 teeth

ZC = SI / D16a6 equivalent.
Go with the 1.6 timing because thats what you have.
if you dont feel that the timing is dead on, use a timing gun to confirm.

yes thank you, I'm feeling kind of dumb now. I contacted the engine seller.
it is si timing
like picture number 2 above
ignition timing is also 18 btdc +- 2 degrees
