Default My Barn find itr

I thought you guys would enjoy the story of my new itr. Some of you might remember me from years back I had the orange EG hatch and then a 98 ITR

I found this car by a post on clubsi just before Christmas. It took some detective work to find the owner but I found him within 48 hours made An offer site unseen and sent a deposit

Fast forward to today, my buddy Scott came down with his truck adn trailer. Step was was get fuel, $140 worth. the last trip we did we pushed it one exit too far and had to hike 2 miles for fuel in the cold

It took about an hour and half to get to the shop, we went inside and there she was

this pic says it all lol

Only problem, Al could not find the key!! he had called a locksmith to come on site with no luck. Luckily there was an Acura dealer about 30min away, so off we went to get a new key cut. Forgot to take pics here, but who cares, $50 and 5 min later a key.

back at the shop, we tested the key on door, and after having to pry it open, i hopped in to test the key in the ignition. Success it turned!

check it out, uder 23,000 KM, i think about 13-14,000 miles

poped the hood, all sock! but the power steering pump was removed and bypassed, but he gave me all the stock system

we released the ebrake (take note, if you leave a car for along time, jsut leave it in gear, with the ebrake off !) but the pads where stuck solid to the rotors
we came prepared, jacked up the car to remove the rear brake pads.

bye bye pads. A chunk of pad acutally stuck to the rotor

freedom! it;s first move since about 2004

frist light in almost 10 years !

dirty ! why he didn't buy a $50 car cover i dunno

Off we go back to Acura to get the key programmed, Barrie of Acura was very helpful.
He told us to back the whole operation into the shop and they'll get the key programmed right away

Didn;t take long for most of the dealership staff to check out the car. The service manager told me stories about how the cars would get stripped overnight in the dealerships lots when they first started getting them in 97-98! wheels seats, motor parts, gone.

while paying for the programming, i asked the parts guy to give me coins back isntead of bills, so i could head over to the self serve car wash that i saw on the way. He insisted we use their wash bay. Score, an OEM wash haha.

Look at that it's white! going to need a cut and polish, but it's not horrible

We had to make one important stop. The only Tim Hortons that i know of in southern ontario that has Boston Cream timbits was right around the corner, mmmmm

made the trip back home, got her unloaded and 2 of us managed to push it this far up the driveway, damn steep driveway

had to use a tow strap around a post (for my tube bender) in the garage to get it over the bump, but home at last 7 hours later

unloaded the spare wheels/tires he game me and i noticed that it's still the OEM tires ( think re10s right?) on the facotry rims haha

And thats that! Next task, get it started, track down the facotry badge number(he gave me some good leads) and a super clean interior. The car is actually a 2000, not as 98 as eddie thought.

Great find! The other day at work my wife ask me, well if the type-r gets stolen so much what did the dealers do when they had it brand new back in 97-01? I told her they probably didn't have one at every dealership lol. But your story explain it all.
