I know for sure my turbo is bad but I'm tring to eliminate the possibility of a block problem. Car drives fine but low on power due to turbo? My question is, can a turbo have so much play that it will cause a sound similar to a rod knock on start up after sitting? Not consistent, goes rite away. But can also hear it at low steady idle sometimes. The turbo has alot of play up and down and in and out.

 

No. It not enought to hear through the bay. But if you keep driving with it that way you WILL break something off and possibly destroy what's left of your engine.
