Second opinion (car won't start)
Long time lurker first time poster but I am stumped and frustrated about a situation regarding my 4th gen prelude.
Basically I drove down to california from canada for the holidays to visit the GF's family and about a week after being down here my car randomly doesn't want to start and run, it fires up but as soon as you release the key back to the P2 in the ignition all my dashboard lights turn off and my car's rpm's die and it stalls.
I have searched and searched all over the internet and there are two main and very common issues with a car that wants to start but won't stay running. 1) Main Relay 2) Ignition Switch
Against my better judgement I went with the main relay so I bought a $60 part from carjunky it arrives next day (great service) I remove and install the main relay only to have a car that won't stay running.
So I am going to go back and buy a ignition switch and replace it myself as I am not about to pay $90 for a tow truck to the honda dealership plus pay $150 to have it replaced because I don't have the extra funds laying around.
I searched google and honda-tech but couldn't find a step by step for a ignition switch D.I.Y for a 1992 honda prelude si (2.3L) if anyone has a link or has replaced one during their lifetime and would like to share some tips I would be in your debt.
Sorry for the wall of text just frustrated as I am trying to drive back to canada to get back to work + car insurance runs out on the 25th.

Check this link for the Honda service manual. I think it was page 1152 - 1153 that talked about the switch replacement and testing.

Good luck.

There's also a FSM on this link if the superhonda doesn't work.
Page 1120 has some diagnostics test for your ignition switch. Do those before you spend all of that money and time replacing it.
Hope this helps.

If you take off the lower steering column covers you can see the switch on the left side. If you want, just look at it and see if it looks or smells burnt. Normally when they go bad that's what happens. To remove it is easy just a few screws and unplug it from a couple connectors. You can get this switch rockauto for fairly cheap. They ship really fast, usually same day. Do a search for "rock auto coupon code".
How's your cap, rotor, and plugs tho ? If they haven't been changed out, just change them to be on the safe side.
