"LS" engines: Where did the "LS" designation come from?
LS comes from the LS model Integra.
LS was the Luxury Sport
Integra LS: (luxery sport) Came with power door locks, sun roof, power windows, Has ABS, The LS also came with cloth seats
The engine is called LS because it came out of the LS integra

Actually every model LS GS RS etc. all came with the same possible options from the factory, so you can't really distinguish a model by what it has. Just food for thought.
I got my info from the FAQ:
Integra RS: No abs, No moon roof, power windows, power door locks are an option, came with cloth seats
Integra LS: (luxery sport) Came with power door locks, sun roof, power windows, Has ABS, The LS also came with cloth seats
Integra SE (special edition): (only available in 1995/1996 which is basically the integra GSR without the suspension and engine upgrades) Comes standard with leather, moon roof and all power options
Integra GSgrand sport) the "twin" of the SE but wasn't released until 1997.. Basically the GSR without the engine & suspension (comes standward with all power options and moon roof)
Integra GSR: Moon roof, all power options,In earlier years of GSR's leather was optional, after 1999 leather came standard.. They also came with DOHC VTEC engine
But, you are right.
'97-'00 Integra Type R - B18C5 1797 10.6:1 195hp@8000RPM/130lb-ft@7500
'94-'00 Integra GS-R - B18C1 1797 10.0:1 170hp@7600RPM/128lb-ft@6200
'94-'00 Integra LS/RS/GS - B18B1 1834 9.2:1 142hp@6300RPM/127lb-ft@5200
They all have the B18B1, but I'm GUESSING that the LS is the most common so people just refer to it as that?

Everything that you have listed from the FAQ were all options for ANY trim level. And I get my information from someone that was a salesman for acura late 80's early 90's. And many other people.
