Civic SiR + 14x6 wheels ... Which tire size?
Hey guys, looking for some input & advice to plan my summer wheel setup!
The car is a Honda Civic SIR coupe. Stock suspension for now ... I have found some really nice wheels, they're (14 x 6) inches and +40 offset. I know 14's are really small, so I'm trying to find a good tire size AND possible spacer combination which would still make them look good.
So far, I've come up with this: 195/60/14 tire size with a 5mm spacer on each wheel. How does that sound? I know someone can recommend something a little more aggressive though, and I'd love to hear everyone's opinion.
Cheers!

What year SiR coupe? That'll help determine proper tire sizes for you. Either way, I doubt you'll have any fitment issues with either the +40 offset as standard or even with the 5mm spacer.
Thanks for the reply! It's a 1999 ... I'd like to run a 5mm (or 7mm) spacer simply to compensate for the tiny 6" width of the wheel.
It's really hard to do anything with a 14 x 6" wheel. Your tire size choice of 195/60-14 is probably your one best bet. Any chance you can free up some funds to buy a new set of wheels ? I recently bought TRM C1 15 x 7" wheels from "Doc" at Tire Rack for $89 each. They look great & fit great, plus they're much lighter than stock. With a 15 x 7" wheel you'll have a lot more tire choices/size options.
Take a look, TRM C1 15 x 7"

Good luck.

Yes ... I'm actually a licensed distributor for both Tire Rack and Toyo
(hello Matt & Doc!)
Hence I'm definitely not opposed to buying larger wheels. The reason I started this thread is because I found an incredible deal on some authentic Blitz BRW wheels which I'd LOVE to purchase. But I haven't bought anything yet.
I'm hesitating exactly because of your criticism ... "It's really hard to do anything with a 14 x 6' wheel"! To be honest, I just don't think they'll look good.
Also, my SiR has a DC5 front conversion. My fenders are slightly larger than OEM Civic fenders, meaning these wheels will look smaller than the mental picture in your head

As for the wheel choice; I like BRW's as much as the next guy, but they will look absolutely tiny on the car. Seeing as you've mentioned a DC5 front end conversion, I'd almost recommend a 16" wheel. Sadly, tire choices are rather limited in that wheel size. At the very least, 15" wheels would be advisable. Especially if you consider brake caliper clearance. If you do anything to alter your brakes, the 14" wheels won't clear them very well.

The advice and honesty is greatly appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to respond guys. If someone had said something like "I've used 14's before with this setup and it looked good", then I may have gone through with it.
Right now, everyone I've spoken to about the wheels is telling me the same thing! I'll continue searching. Lots of winter left to decide
