Anybody have to go to CHP for their salvaged car?

Default Anybody have to go to CHP for their salvaged car?

i bought a salvage car and have to go to CHP to get them to aprove it...

do they check under the hood, the stock motor keeps dying and was going to put in my b16 but not sure if the check vin# ect. it was just smoged so emisions is ok. would it work if i got a recipt for the swap?

any help would be great thanks

as far i as i know they will check for the vin# specially if it was salvaged due to theft.... but if you have the receipt they might let it go, but then you have another problem... if the motor is a jdm b16a they might send you to the state ref and then you wont pass because they dont allow jdm motors unless you really get lucky with it... i think you also need a brake and lamp test for it, and make sure that all air bags are there and have all receipts...

they won't do anything to you if you don't have airbags, its just that when you're selling the car you're required to tell the buyer that the car doesn't have them. but ya they check the lights, horn, probably some other little stuff. and they do check your receipts, so you better have a receipt for every single part you had to replace.
