LOL at vtecH. I would go B18C1 over a B16. Or for that money build your B18a/b

May I ask why you are gonna spend 2grand to make 160hp? When you could trump that for 2k into a B18a/b. Or are you one of those, "it's cool cause it has VTEC" guys? lol

LOL didnt think the B16 VTEC would make to much of a difference compaired to a B18 A or C. obviously a B18C1 VTEC would be the best choice but dont think im gonna find one. Not gonna spend thousands on a motor lookin for a cheap good used motor. i figured a non VTEC B18 would be better and faster then a B16. i really didnt like the B16 to begin with smaller motor who wants that lol. my blown B18A1 had around 200hp so thats what im really lookin for, so u say **** a B16 got it thats what i thought to. so if i get another b18 what would be a badass head to put on it for when i can?

So you have a B16 now? Just get an ls block and use your b16 head

Go with a GSR head, or B16 with ITR internals. LSVTEC is the way to go lol.

^^ an ls-v isn't quite that simple. it's basically a full tear-down on the ls block.
man, hurts to see so much hate for a motor that broke the 100hp per L. barrier in a production vehicle. not to mention introduced the world to vtec. the b16 was a marvel of honda engineering.
that being said, go with a b20z lol. if you can find a p8r head to throw on it, that would be excellent.
regardless, the b20z will make an awesome replacement motor for dirt cheap

head studs
arp rod bolts
b series vtec oil pump/ water pump
ecu
distributor
vtec wiring

tbh, the b20z is a straight drop in. you can even use your original ecu/distributor. and they don't cost all that much more than an ls
just something for you to look into

^^ word. But I would not keep the LS pistons, there is not enough of a valve relief. I would go with PR3 or P30 pistons from a B16 for higher compression.

But since the LS motor he already has is blown, it's the perfect candidate for an LSVTEC. As long as the cylinder walls are fine, and the crank journals. But an LS bottom end in running conditon can be had for $150 which is not even a dent in the pocket.

yea. problem with an ls-v, to me anyways, is that you get the mentality of "since i'm in there, may as well do this". the cost always exceeds your expectations

^^ I agree, but just make a list and stick to it.

My list would consist of:

Bottom end-
ARP headstuds/rod bolts
New honda main/rod bearings
Shotpeened LS rods
PR3 B16 pistons
VTEC oil/water pumps and corresponding belt.
New LS headgasket

Head-
GSR head
Supertech springs/guides/seals/retainers/valve's
ITR cams.

Call it a day.

If he want's to keep the head stock. Atleast put in new seals, and have a machine shop check how well the valves are sealing/seating.

well i got another B18A1 134k on the block, he milled the head .033 port n polished it 0 miles on it. all new gaskets pumps belts etc. pretty clean good lookin motor for $250 since he milled the head it raised the compression a lil bit witch the LS motors need it i hear so pretty happy with what i got puttin the motor in tomorrow cant wait to see how it runs.

Usually I would advise to not buy someone elses motor build, but for that price, I can't complain, and god knows you aren't complaining haha
