Default Normal wear?
i just bought this head today and like a moron i didnt take the rails and caps off to look at the journals...but when i got home i did and found this...is this normal?

As long as the scores (like little grooves/scratches) in the journals are deep enough for your fingernail to catch in them as you run your nail across the journal.
