03' rsx type-s rebuild =]
I recently got a pretty beat up 2003 Rsx type-s with 50,000 miles. I figured why not pull the engine and rebuild it? (the compression was alittle low in all cylinders, the car was not maintained at all and the low grade gas had to of been used in it all it's life)
So we pulled the engine and trans that night haha.
Once the engine was out we pulled it apart and assesed the damage. After specing the engine and internals it was clear that over sized pistions were needed, why not go all out? Forged 12:1 .020" over pistons are on the way along with skunk2 stage 1 cams just because.
Full parts list:
12:1 .020" pistons & hardware
Skunk2 stage 1 cams
ACL coated race bearings (main/rod bearings)
Supertech block guard
Ferrea valve seals
full upper/lower gasket set
To come:
Hondata K-Pro
Full exhaust- Any sudgestions for exhaust with a nice sound? I'm looking mostly for performance out of the exhaust and I don't want it to be obnoxiously loud, Thanks!
Time to have some fun
Pics up later!

i haven't seen an off the shelf 12:1 piston, only 12.5:1
if you are looking for performance, 3" exhaust is the way to go. thermal r&d exhausts are great pieces, but there is a bottle neck at the front of it.

3" exhaust is great. I suggest building your own. We use K-Teller 3" piping and Vibrant 3" mufflers and resonators. Looks clean and sounds great.
What pistons are you running and "hardware" ?

I'm using Supertech pistons and by "hardware" I just mean the piston pins, rings, and the pin clips. I'm looking to get a safe 20-30whp gain over stock on 93 octane with the pistons, cams, intake, exhaust, and a tune with hondata k-pro.
I chose the supertech pistons because I wasn't positive that I would not have issues with the piston to valve clearance with the bigger lift cams and 12.5:1 compression pistons from JE or Wiseco. Supertech is the only company that I could find 12:1 pistons off the shelf. I know supertech isn't the "best" but it will be plenty fine for my small goals.
And moderator, as far as the exhaust goes, is there any specific muffler/resonator from Vibrant that you have noticed the best power gains from? or is it based on sound preference?
*we might EVENTUALLY go with bigger injectors and an upgraded fuel pump relay or a walbro 255lph pump in order to have an E85 autocross tune as well as a 93 octane fuel economy tune
And Kyden here's the link to pistons, part # P4-HK8650-P11

Here is what this project is starting out as.. pretty rough..

Starting the engine pull

There it is =]

and its out

the engine coming apart..

Honing the cylinders straight to check if the old pistons would still work, this is when we realized over sized pistons will have to be used.

While waiting for the parts... dissembling and cleaning the head

after lapping the valves and everything thoroughly cleaned the valves were coated in oil to prevent any
possibility of rusting and making break in easier on the valve and valve guides.
Then we reassembled the head

3 weeks later the new parts finally come in, everything but the cams

This week we will hone the cylinders to match the .020" over pistons and start reassembly
