Default 5G suspension options

Hi,
I'm looking for a solution for the suspension for 5 gen. The car is standing on 225/40 R18 tires. My friend wants it to be stiffer, lowering could be an option. The main goal is to avoid scratching the inner fenders.

Share your setups here.
Cheers

Well, Coilovers is always the best option. It all depends on your friends budget. As far as scratching the inner fenders, your friend can always roll the fenders so, the tires do not rub.

1) I used to run TEIN S-tech springs 1.5F and 1.3R on stock shocks. Very comfortable for a DD. Ran on these for almost 5 years.

2) Ground control with KYB AGX shocks. Much better stability with the advantages of height adjust-ability. 2 years on these.

My current setup is Function and Form Type 2 Full coilovers. I love this setup. It is fairly stiff, but comfortable enough to be a daily driver. It is height and dampening adjustable. (1 1/2 yrs-current)

Post the amount he wants to spend, Is he going to use it for DD, Track, both, etc?

Good luck!

The car is DD with some streetracing in mind It's supercharged now and it'll be turboed, so the car suspension setup requires some attention here. I think 1.5 grand is meant to spend on this.

A lot of people seem to like the Ground Control/Koni Yellow setup. You get height adjustability and damping rate control for a pretty reasonable price. I've got GC's on stock shocks and it rides pretty decent.

In my opinion, the TEIN springs (on all of their coilovers etc.) are extremely soft vs competitors. Anything below the Flex series is great for DD status - the Flex are supposedly good for track use but I only have experience with everything below that using twin tube design. And in the case that something goes wrong and you need to mail anything out to be repaired - the customer service is enough to make you put your head through a wall every time someone mentions the name.....

You will want coilovers - but when shopping for a good set with intentions to track the car, look for mono tube designs. Twin Tube are good for daily street driven cars because they aren't as stiff but performance wise they just don't hold up as well as mono tube.
