97 accord dies completely zero power but will jump start? whats my problem?
so just recently my daily 97 accord died. came out one morning and put the key in the ignition and i get nothing.
no power whatsoever. no power locks, no chiming, no cluster lights. ZERO power
i figure my battery is just completely dead so i jump start it and go from there.
it jump starts fine and runs fine so i figured i was good.
drive to get food and it wont start again. jump start it again and go to put a new battery in it at my garage, but now it has randomly died while im driving it and will have ZERO power. no chiming or lights or radio or anything.
the new battery didnt work, but it still jump starts fine like i said. the gauge cluster seems to be going crazy, specifically the tach and speedo sometimes.
ive narrowed it down to being either a bad power or ground wire or the alt.
im thinking it cant be the ignition switch because the power locks wont even work etc. but im not sure if it could be the main relay?
would these symptoms be because my main relay is bad??
what do you guys think the issue is?

if the alternator is going out it will start and then die while running because the battery gets drained. jumping a car with a dead alternator will result in the car running while jumping and then dying once the jumper cables are removed. check the alternators connection to the fuse box and also the battery positive power wire to the fuse box
check all the grounds:
-transmission to negative battery terminal ground
-drivers side of valve cover to drivers engine mount to frame ground
-ecu ground which attaches top the drivers side of the upper intake manifold next to the brake reservoir
also make sure the battery connections are not corroded and that all the major electrical wires are in good shape
you could also have something draining the battery when the car is off
