Icon2 94 GSR - junk it or part it out?

My passenger ball joint gave out last night ripping the axle out of the trans. I got quoted $1300 for repairs. Seeing as the drivers ball joint needs to be replaced too, I'm not interested in dumping anymore $ into it.

So I'm already down $75 for the tow and multiply that times 2 if I have it towed back to my place to part it out.

The engine is a b20z2 rebuilt about 75k ago, ported, polished head and intake mani, ARP head bolts. Runs great. Trans is a LS with Exedy stage 2 clutch. I don't have a engine hoist anymore though. The rest of the car is pretty much trashed (interior).

Do you guys think I should just call the junkyard and have them come get it for free or bring it back to my place to part it out?

1300 for repair? from who seems pretty steep for a ball joint unless the damage is more severe. the axle should just push back in.

where are you located in ohio

I thought it was pretty steep too. They said the splines on the axle were ground down as the car landed on top of it, plus the upper and lower ball joint snapped off.

I'm located just to the east of Cincinnati.

dont give it away to the junk yard for free if you dont want to fix it sell as a whole to someone who wants to fix it or take out the swap sell it about 600-1000 depends on how much they sell for around your area then if you guys have a pick and pull you cann sell the shell to them and they will pick it up

Why not just order an this?.... and buy a new Axel at your auto parts store.

Do you know how to work on your own cars?

Its a simple fix if the axle is already off your wheel hub

Got to agree with the above, fix it don't scrap it.

At a PicknPull, axle C.V. type, complete W/Hub/Spin for car $65.99 plus core $4.99, under $100 and a few hr. and your back driving. 94

lol the upper control arm comes off in two bolts under the hood....
anybody can replace this...

you may have to drop the shock to slip it out but thats also 2 bolts under the hood..
or you can just take it off completly along with the hub, throw the hub in the vice and take out the ball joint n put the new one back in.

the lower ball joint is easy.. and roughly 30$.. just take the time to fix it man.

throw in a new axel and your laughin

dont mean to advertis here but youtube "ericthecarguy"

he has videos showing you every step to everything u need to do here.

As you can see there's is already people asking for the parts so it would be smart to part it and get the most of what you can out of it.
