well i recently got a 01 gsr which came with a jdm itr cluster and the temp gauge and is not working is all the way hot..... I did some research and read that you could just swap out the green part of ur usdm gsr cluster into the jdm itr one..... My question is i obiously don't have my stock cluster since i bought the car with this one..... Can i just buy an ls cluster and swap out the green piece to the jdm itr.... or does it have to be an 01 gsr cluster that i need to get the green piece off....... Thanks :D

I would have to say that it shouldn't matter all though I've never had this problem. But Ive had a Ls gsr and type r and have swapped my 01 type r cluster through all three and have never had a problem with wiring, but you shouldn't have a problem

What happens if you unplug the temp sending unit? Perhaps the sensor is out?

 

I've never heard of the temp gauge not working, its usually the fuel gauge. As far as I know the green film is just an obd1 obd2 thing. When I installed a '96 spec jdm itr cluster in my '98 gsr I had to swap the green film because the fuel gauge was not working.
