Default mini-me swap help

Hi guys I have 95 civic coupe Dx bone stock. Engine has about 230k original miles still running strong. Now I have a buddy with a d15z1 head that he doesn't use and I am gonna get it off him probably. I was reading about making a mini me with a y8 head or a z6 one. Only thing I'm concerned would be mileage. I am looking to swap this head in hopes of getting better mileage and maybe a little more power are higher rpms. What do u guys think.? Also what are the essential parts I will need? Besides the wire harness which I wont be replacing as its a bitch. What ecu does this head need to run good as it has 2 vtec solenoids?. Thanks.

The z1 engine is a Vtec-e...it runs on 3 valves per cylinder when below a certain RPM (I think its 2500) and then switches to 4 valves per cylinder after 2500rpms - also this motor only revs to 6k rpms....vtec engages at 3k - Your bone stock d15b7 will outrun a d15z1 all day...

If your doing it strictly for mileage then I would say do it...however you said you are looking for a bit more power....in that case I would just go with a z6 head...you will still get good gas mileage and have the extra power you are wanting.

You will need the z6 (if you decide to go with the d16 head) IM and distributor - and a p28 ECU and of course wire vtec -

This setup has been covered many times...you can find everything you need to know on google or using the HT search engine

I'm confused the Z1 head only has one solenoid and I wouldn't use that head unless you are going for a MPG performer. As for the Z6 or Y8 head search the FAQ's above under mini me for a plethora of information including parts lists.
