Default B16A2 swap idle problems

I just swapped a b16a2 into my gsr DA. I used the b17 intake manifold on the swap I am having problems with a idle surge it didn't do it while the b17 was in it. The surge goes from 1000 to 2200 and it has a delay when i let off the throttle while crusing. There wAs a few differences between the two motors like I had a few extra sensors on the b17 that I had to transfer over one that I didn't like was the two male coolant passages that were on the intake manifold, one to the head and the other to the water jacket. On the b16 it was missing the port on the water jacket so I plugged up the bottom one. Its not throwing any cels it runs fine other than the idle and the coolant was burped properly. I'm gonna dig in deeper tomorrow but im leaning towards the iacv being bad but I will check all the vacume lines

Get wiring diagrams and make sure you plugged everything in right. Check for vacuum leaks too.

double check the wiring. some of the sensors have plugs that will fit others and not throw a check engine light.

Use carb cleaner and spray lightly around the intake manifold and vacuum hoses to check for a vacuum leak.

Quick question: What type/kind of ecu are you using? Chipped? If so, what basemap?

Wow, main relay or ignition switch is shorting out or something.

i was scratching my head a bit lastnight, trying to figure why the car would idle at 2 grand steady with the temperature sender disconnected. it just dawned on me. you must have disconnected the temperature SENSOR. not sender. the sensor relays coolant temperature to the pcm and the pcm adjusts fuel trim accordingly. with it unplugged it's probably defaulting to a set parameter. when you disconnected it, did the temperature reading on the gauge go to full hot? probably not

either way, something has shorted out now. that's why smoke is billowing out the vents. the current draw from whatever has shorted must have been great enough to remove enough current from the starting circuit to not allow it to operate. either that, or the short is in the starter circuit
check all your fuses. see if any blew. that'll tell you which way to turn to track down the short

I'm gonna look into that tomorrow. But I pulled the wire out of the single prong temp sensor for the gauge when it was un plugged the gauge was at cold. Thanks for the response

Oh I thought you meant smoke was coming from under the dash. You meant your vents?

Either the main relay or ignition switch. But if the engine isn't cranking at all, not even a click, it is the ignition switch. Main relay- engine will still crank, but no fuel.

Bad starter relay/solenoid. But that wouldn't cause the smoke, you just have a wire shorting out to another wire, a short to ground wouldn't cause smoke. Have you noticed when you press any one button two things go on?
