Default What motors are interchangeable with 05 accord i4

Hi everyone,

It's been a long time since I've been on the board and my knowledge with Honda has dissipated. Anyway, I picked up a 2005 HONDA accord ex i4 that I am using as my daily driver commuter car. The car is leaking transmission fluid and I can't seem to locate where it's coming from. The car has 190k miles on it... Runs good with the exception of the transmission drip. I figure that I could possibly swap the motor and transmission when everything goes bad. So, do you guys know what engines are interchangeable with this car?

A little bit about my leak just in case you guys can give me an idea... It looks like it accumulates at the seam between the engine and the tranny. I don't believe it's leaking there but just ending up there. I did notice drips on the passenger side axle. The drips were near where the axle goes into the transmission. What are your thoughts? Thanks

I did some snooping around on Google and found some other folks with the same issue. Some folks jump to fixing the transmission to drive axle seal, then find out it the acutal culprit is a bearing inside the transmission.

I am experiencing the same issue with my 03 2.4 Auto. It has 106k miles on it. I am also experiencing a heavy shaking/vibration thru the dash and seat bottoms when I am under acceleration, above 3k RPMS in any gear. I've changed both axles and it went away for about 500 miles or so, and now it's coming back. So, I did some snooping around on Google and found some other folks with the same issue. They replaced axles, still had a leak. Then jump to fixing the transmission to drive axle seal, but still had a leak. Then took it to Honda, only to find out it a bearing has gone bad inside the transmission. So, I am looking at these options as well, because I know repair and/or replacement of the trans will run anywhere from $1k to $4k.
