I have an integra dash in my eg with no sunroof, and i'd like to wire the sunroof switch in the integra dash to my exhaust cutout.

I don't know where to begin. Basically, I need something that puts POWER to the red wire and GROUND to the black wire when i press up on the switch (to open the cutout), and something that puts GROUND to red wire and POWER to the black wire (to close the cutout).

As i understand with the integra sunroof switch, pushing up on the switch puts 12v through a wire to a "close relay" which closes the sunroof. and when pushing down on the switch it puts 12v through a wire to the "open relay" which opens the sunroof. does this sound correct?

could i just grab the relays and clips and wire it up to my exhaust cutout? or is there a better way to go around this? thanks for any help, happy new year!

 

The reason you want to put it on relays is so you don't burn out your switch with too many amps being drawn through it by the motor.

First you need a wiring diagram of that switch to determine which 4 wires of the 6 you need. You need to find which is the open, close, ground, and power wires.

Do that and I'll draw up a schematic.

 

I could only find pinouts for the moonroof, but my buddy has a teg with a sunroof and i'll just grab a multimeter and test the wires next time i get the chance.

 

Pin 2 of the switch goes to ground, pin 4 goes to the relay providing power, pins 1 & 3 go to the motor.

When in the 'close' position, the switch sends 12V to pin 1, and in 'open' sends 12V to pin 3. When not receiving power, pins 1 & 3 are grounded.

Should do the trick by connecting the cutout just like the moonroof (pins 1/3).

Notes:

1. This is pretty much required reading when dealing with relays (and shows the pinout, which you'll need). http://www.teamrocs.com/technical/pa...lay_basics.htm Remember that 87A is A-lways connected, it should go to ground. And pin 85 and 86 are interchangeable.

2. ALWAYS fuse within 6 inches of the battery when running power wires. I then attach the ring terminal to the battery clamp bolt. Ground can go on any bare spot on the chassis (put a ring terminal on the ground wire. scrap a little paint to get a good connection then using a self tapping screw attach the ring terminal) or run it back to battery negative. I sometimes ground on the dash stay behind the lighter as it's already bare metal.

3. On the power side fuse put the size recommended in the cutout instructions. On the trigger side fuse start low, like a 2 or 3 amp fuse. If it blows try a 5 amp fuse.

4. A would recommend soldering connections as they usually last longer than crimp connectors.

5. I would also recommend wire loom: http://i808.photobucket.com/albums/z...t/wireloom.jpg and tying everything down with zip-ties. The more the wires wiggle the sooner they will break.

So I found two bosch relays that I had from a previously wired up car alarm (for the actuators) and I followed that diagram and tested them out.... seems to work great! Ill have to try it out connected to the actual cutout though. For now I just tested it with a multimeter. Have a great new years and thanks for all of your help!
