Default got my Hardrace mounts installed today

So I posted on here a few weeks ago about my rear motor mount being a problem. Ordered a set of Hardrace from DOHCGARAGE on Ebay. Had them installed today, my R vibrates quite a bit, more than I was hoping for.

I daily drive the car 70+ miles a day, a 2hr commute round trip to and from work. I only drove from my friends shop a few miles back to my house, and the car vibrates significantly more than stock of course, but from what I hear this vibration is not as bad as the Hasports and other brands. In fifth gear cruising isnt that bad at all, but its accelerating thru the gears is whats the problem. It'll take some getting used to, I'm definitely not taking them out to put in new OEM mounts.

My dash shakes and rattles, gotta take out the coins in my coin storage cuz thats annoying! My steering wheels shakes pretty bad. Hopefully it will tone down a bit as time goes on, but if not, o well! lol! Heres a few pics of the old mounts:

lol, i wouldnt even know where to begin! im going to try and get some in car video. even my front lip spoiler was making noise. hehe! I had my steering rack replaced earlier this year due to an accident and although I can't prove it, I think that it is making most of the noise I hear and feel. Even with the broken mounts I was hearing this rattle, which I thought was caused by the broken rear mount, but now that noise and rattle has only gotten worse.

Doesnt look like they have a Type R application. Probably could use one for the GSR?! I'm gonna do more research, thanks for the suggestion!

yeah it will absorb and alleviate the vibrations coming from the motor, so it doesn't get transferred into the chassis

I suggest you replace the rear mount with a new OEM mount. That's what I did this time around... after having gained experience on my first couple builds. I only have inserts in the front lowers and it still vibrates more than I'd like.

In the past when I had inserts in the rear mount, it vibrated too much. It was embarrassing having people in the car saying that my car was too old, and it rattled like hell making the drive much less enjoyable. Never again.

Injected mount with window weld works and about 100 percent less vibration

heheh! I have a feeling thats what people are going to be saying about my car too! Yeah I might consider buying an OEM rear mount. AllMotorDan likes having the tranny and drivers side OEM with a hasport rear. If anything right now, the most cost effective is to buy the rear OEM and take out the Hardrace rear. I'm going to give a while though before I give up on it, just to see if I can live with it, Im going to work today so we'll see how the 70+ mile round trip goes. Thanks for the suggestion!

Dan, where did you get your damper from? I checked summit racing but they dont have an application for the Type R. Gonna do more digging about the Type R app when I get home from work.

I have innovative mounts and they don't rattle the car that bad, but they were in when I got the car so I don't know what stock feels like lol. Although most of the time when something is rattling is usually just stuff I have up under the ebrake then I move it and no more rattling.

Give it a week, mounts do soften and break in. First turn key when I put mine in I though "oh no what have I done!? what a mistake!" Then I went for a drive and said who cares about vibrations this is amazing as a driver aspect! But my HASPORTs did soften and honestly the car didn't vibrate very much at all and felt very close to stock. Then I installed AVID lower torque mounts... holy **** would not recommend for anything other than a racecar because your regular mirrors become useless at that point and the chassis resonates so loud you have to really talk loud over it. They do make 40a inserts to help fix that problem but they told me it would be like $40 for 2 little inserts and I said **** that I'll deal with it.

So I drove to work today, and I was doing 80 mph and it was so frickin loud in the car, it was almost unbearable. I had to open a window so I could listen to wind noise rather than the chassis resonance that FlewBy mentions, at first I was like WTH! I thought it was a possible exhaust leak, but it was just too powerful sounding. And I didnt know what it was until I read your reply, FlewBy. I describe it as 50,000 buddhist monks meditating in my cabin. lol. I'm gonna give it about a month or two, and I hope it softens a bit. If not, I think I will get a new OEM rear mount and slap that on. I daily drive the car to work 70+ miles round trip, its about an hour drive each way, so it would be pretty annoying to have that chassis resonance ear banging me the whole way. lol

ROFL! Years ago I said the same thing after installing my ES inserts. But after driving it a bit I can't imagine going completely back to stock. One of the only things I really didn't like is going on a long trip @ 70+mph. Having no cruise the vibration managed to snake it's way down the throttle cable and made the gas pedal resonate enough to make my foot go to sleep after a while.

indeed

or you can always use a drill bit and put some holes for comfort in your current mounts.

oem or hasport imo. hardrace has too much vibration and too much engine flex for the vibrations they cause.

I only had the problem with my right foot and that was only for long drives at HWY speeds. Your car must vibrate quite a bit more that mine ever did. 10 years ago there was a guy that worked at Landspeed Racing that I talked to several times. He had a 4.92 final drive and custom solid aluminum mounts. I can't begin to imagine what the vibration was like in that thing.
