Default 91 Accord F22A1 Ignition Timing

I am trying to set the Ignition timing on a 91 F22A1. Looks simple enough except when I open the plug the pointer is there but there are not any timing marks on the flywheel. On the front of the engine, pulley end, there is not a pointer or any grooves cut in the pulleys.

What am I missing?

It's on the flywheel. Sometimes if the flywheel is rusted the marks are harder to see. You can turn the wheels all the way to the left and get a wrench on the crank pulley bolt and with the tranmission in neutral you can have someone turn the bolt COUNTERCLOCKWISE until you can see the marks. Then use a black sharpie to make marks on the flywheel so you can see them better with the timing light on it.

Am I correct that when cylinder number 1 is at the top of it's stroke I am either at TDC or 180 degree off TDC?

Ok, I turned the wheels out and turned the crank pulley nut CLOCKWISE and watched the flywheel. Still no marks. I took out the number 1 spark plug and watched as the piston started coming up. I turned very slowly and watched with a flashlight still no marks so I brought the number 1 cylinder around to the next iteration and did the same thing but still nothing. I took a rag and some brake cleaner and cleaned the flywheel surface to a clean silver color and tried again. Still nothing.

My Haynes manual shows a fairly noticeable mark and I don't even have a scratch.

Help.

It's there it's just kinda hard to see. It's more of a slight scratch than a clear mark. There will be two sets. You will want the set with more marks. It will have -15 degrees and one mark ahead and one mark behind it, like I said, more of a scratch. And remember, they are not on the teeth, they are to the right of it.

Ok, I checked again and there just are not any marks. I am wondering if some changed the flywheel and used one that was not marked.

Is there any way to mark the flywheel short of replacing it? Does anyone have pictures of a flywheel with the marks that I can use to mark mine closest enough to get through emissions?
