1994 Del Sol Timeing Belt
Damaged valves is usually the result in a popped timing belt. Would she let you do a compression test on it? Either way...1000 bucks isn't too bad even if the motor is no good! But throwing 800 bucks in her face wouldn't hurt to try.
I wouldnt pay 1000 maybe 800 depending on how clean the car it self is in.. I broke a timming belt on a d16 and nothing happend but it could bend valves... All tho you can use almost any D series valve in other d series and they are very cheap to buy a valve or 16.. If you do have to replave valves replace valve seals
Exactly...D series parts are cheap. I think 1000 bucks is pretty fair. I mean...if it did have a good z6 in it...you would prob be paying around 2-2500 or more depending on the inside and outside. My buddy paid 2500 for a del sol with 175k miles - good body (just a hand full of dings) and just the ol' d15b7!! So even if it had NO MOTOR...just for a del sol shell 1000 bucks would be fair to me with a pretty good body and interior. But like I said above...flashing 800 in her face wouldn't hurt.
Then again I am in Atlanta GA and del sol's are hard to find around here! Especially in decent shape.
