Default Side molding paint removal?

Im missing a piece of the side molding on my ej6 and i found a guy who has the piece but its painted green. Do you think the paint would just come right off with some paint stripper? Does anyone know if they are black plastic underneath the paint? I just dont want to buy them and find out they are useless. thanks in advance

Why don't you just sand the piece and paint it black?

I'd just hold out for a non-EX trim piece. All trims besides the EX and Si come with non-painted molding.

It's too easy to mess the finish up.

Yes paint stripper will take it right off and not damage the plastic one bit.

I have no experience with this but I was told that oven cleaner would do the job.

oven cleaner is designed to break down and dissolve grease and it will do the same thing to paint. however i'm not sure what it will do to the plastic.

I thought about it but I want it to look the same as the other trim pieces, I want it to have the plastic look.

Yeah like samuraij said I dont know if that would work well I think ill stick with paint stripper. That stuff is pretty strong but it works great for valve covers

What are your outlets for looking for the piece? I mean, this is a part on all 1996-2000 Civics of at least your body style (I'm not sure which piece you need or what body style you drive).

There should be hundreds of these around for you to possibly find.
