Default horrible squeak coming from driver side front wheel area?

Heres what i've got
ive got this nasty squeak coming from somewhere in the driver side tie rod/wheel area

i'm thinking its the tie rods, inner or outer, i don't know 100% though

any ideas on if it could be anything else? like some sort of small bushing?

When it squeaks, the wheel is only being turned about 2-4 degrees or so, so not much
and it sounds like metal hitting metal, but in real life, it sounds more like a bad creak.
And when its turned faster, the individual creak/bang sounds more like a squeak

http://youtu.be/6hPspjhAq8w

I also should mention that it seems that turning the wheel (with the engine on) has gotten a slight bit more difficult since this squeak showed up

That sounds like detonation. Metalic ping. That's bad, don't run the car.

Edit: you said the car wasn't running? Sounds like it was. That must be a really bad phone mic. Were you having someone turn the wheel while you taped?

yes, my bad, i probably should have clarified that
it was on a lift (not running), with me under it
i had a buddy turn the wheel a few degrees left and right to make it squeak
and thats what i was recording
i suppose the noise that sounded like an engine was the people on the lift next to mine

Maybe something in the steering rack? That isn't a squeak, or a noise made by suspension.

possibly
when i turn the wheel faster, it sounds more like a squeak though.
I might record it from the inside while driving. Inside it sounds more like a squeak/creak
I used a stethoscope to listen in on certain parts.
You could hear the creek from everywhere, because they're all connected

but it seemed to be the loudest in the tierods. And it quieted down a bit when i got to the rack itself

Hmmm, the tie rods come out of the rack (obviously lol) so I dunno, I'm thinking it's the rack. Or beat to hell tie rod bushings.

if anyone was wondering, i replaced the tierods on both sides (inner and outer) but it didn't fix the problem.
So i looked closer, and i turns out it was coming from the lower ball joint....which i replaced a year ago. Replaced it and everything is quiet now. So screw duralast

You have 1700 posts yet you confuse a bad ball joint with detonation???

Yea because post count = knowledge. Cause you totaly would have guessed that sound was a ball joint.

You obviously don't know what detonation sounds like then do you? You can't tell me that in his video it doesn't sound like a metallic ping?

fudge off bra. Fast forward to 1:04, now tell me that it didn't sound like a really bad case of knock.

So with your almost 3k post you should be able to disassemble an entire car and put it back together in 2 hrs right?

I really don't understand what post count has to do with actual real life knowledge on cars. Anyone knows you cannot diagnose a car on the internet perfectly without being there.

With you mistaking the 1 for 7 in the 1,100 post he has, wouldn't it actually be 7,700 according to your equation?

I guess arsenol has ears like a hawk or someshit. I guess he didn't notice I edited it when I found out the engine wasn't running, but I mean he could totally tell it was a ball joint without even reading the thread.

WOW... that squeak sounds nothing like a squeak! more like banging a wrench in foil pan LOL.

I have a squeak in my front end now. I thought it was from poly bushings needing grease, so I loosened applied a little marine grease to all the poly mounts for sway bar bushings and sway bar links. My tie rods and ball joints are all new and snug. I still have this actual squeaking. Im gonna think its isolated to the coilover springs rubbing on the upper and lower perches. Only thing in the front end that was not greased.

Another one to make arsenol look like a dickbag. It could be squeaking brakes, even if it's only when you turn the wheel. But if it's when you hit a bump, it is suspension related, but I wouldn't say bushich since you greased the poo out of them lol.

OP did you replace the ball joint, and did it fix the problem?

Lol you guys are funny! I guess the ones who got offended are the ones who thought it was detonation.

As far as troll, I've been around longer than all of you If you think about it, it's quite obvious it's the ball joint...

To the post about count, maybe you haven't realized that posts in GDD do not count. This implies that DirtyDA9 has made 11XX (I got it close now) replies to tech posts. If he confuses these sounds, I hate to think what other misinformation he is spreading. Hence my reference to count...
