Mini-Me swap question
Hey guys, I've searched and can't find a right answer, I have a JDM D15B block (I don't know if it's Vtec or not,) It has PM3 pistons. I'm wanting to throw on the Z6 Vtec head, I've also done the OBD0 swap. Is there anyway to tell if it's a Vtec block? Much help greatly appreciated.. I've used the FAQ's and no luck, if I missed something, feel free to show me. Thanks.
Are you wanting to know if the head or the block is v-tec? One dead give away for the head is if it says v-tec, the other is that the spark plugs are on the bottom of the head and not the at the top. Also, on the back left corner of the head next to the intake manifold there's a wire going to a silenoid. But if you're just asking about the block, the PM3 pistons are the original that came in your JDM D15 and that was not a v-tec motor.
It doesn't matter. If you throw on the Z6 head and convert to obd-1 your motor will have vtec. I'm doing the same thing on my JDM d15B block with PM-3 pistons. Be sure to by the obd-0 to obd-1 wiring conversion harness off somewhere like rywire.com. You'll need the ECU, distributor, and vtec conversion harness. Use the Y8 headgasket with Z6 timing belt.
