Default Which Clutch

My clutch went out and I was wondering what people recommend on a fairly stock integra (headers, exhaust, intake). It had a stage 1 to my knowledge when i bought it and i would like to stick to stage 1 or 2. Eventually i would like to turbo and/or lsvtech. Also I was wondering what the advantages/disadvantages of a racing flywheel vs a regular one. So any input and suggestions would be appreciated.

ummm... So you kind of answered your own question, but stick with comp clutch, act, exedy, anything name brand..

Lighter flywheel would just make your car rev faster

get a clutch for what you currently have not what you plan to do. because we all know how well plans for our cars go.

I'm runnin a stock flywheel on my b20nitrous with full bolt ons..sometimes lighter isint always better(the weight of ur stock flywheel creates hella momentum at mid to high rpm their for u rev faster at high rpm lighter flywheel u rev faster at lower rpm)
And I upgraded my excedy stage 1 for this 6puck stage2 from a company called lsd motorsports..and I LOVE IT!!!!!the pedal feels sorta stock but it grabs wayy better than my exedy..I swear when I'm flyn thru gears I will chirp the tires all the way thru 4th best part ur leg dosent get tired if u daily ur car like I do..u should try em..their prices are unbeatable

Also note the currently unmentioned good/bad (depends on how you view it) side effect of a light weight flywheel...the revs will drop more quickly in between shifts because of the reduced rotating mass.

The advantage to a light weight flywheel is as others have said. The engine will rev faster because of the reduced rotating mass.

As far as a clutch goes...exedy stage 1 would be my recommendation. I currently have the exedy oem replacement in my lightly modified b18c1 and I wish I had gone with the exedy stage 1. The oem replacement doesn't bite quite as much as I would like it to.

I have had great sucess with Exedy. From the OEM replacement, to the 3 puck stage 2 clutch disk with exedy Pressure plate. The stage 1 pedal feels great, firm but not stiff, and awesome grabbing power. Of course, OEM replacement is OEM replacement. Softer pedal feedback, OEM feel and quality. Both a great "upgrade" when it comes down to clutch disks and pressure plates. I have heard great news about the ACT kits, but have never tried them.

You pretty much said it.

I had a exedy stg.1 and a 9.5LB chromoly flywheel on my ITR'd EM1. It had bolt ons and, and endyn head work. I think that in the future, I would have gone with a heavier flywheel at the very least. Like a stock ITR flywheel. I think that it would have made the car a lot smoother to drive and gave it a more torquey "feel". The 9.5LB was great for ripping on it or downshifting...but for just straight up daily driving (I eventually gave it to my GF to daily), the heavier flywheel would have worked better.

I think a good combo would be an ITR flywheel with either a stage 1 or exedy stock replacement. The stage 1 has more bite and feels more solid. The pedal effort is slightly more heavy...but not to where it's uncomfortable. It just gives you more feel/feed back. The ITR flywheel is a PERFECT weight, IMO, for mixed daily driving and spiritied driving.

I track my ITR and street drive it. The exedy stg.1 and stock ITR flywheel combo is what I have on that car.

For a turbo car, however, depending on power output....the exedy stg.1 might start to slip.

Exedy Stg1 unless you are serious about FI, and then get Stg 2.

I've got a <7 lb. flywheel and I love it. It makes the car more responsive in every way, and gives a bit of an acceleration boost in lower gears. I like that it tachs up and down quickly because it makes rev-matching during DD much faster. For example I don't have to wait as long to let the engine naturally tach down during upshifting. I can acknowledge that there will be differences in personal preference, but for me there aren't really any "downsides" to a lighter flywheel. As opposed to stiffer suspension, for example...

Edit: wife also approves 100% of the lighter flywheel. In fact she prefers the shifting experience of the Integra to our CR-V.
