Default New Wheel Studs

Hey there guys. I've got my friend's (~96) third generation Integra here. Two of his wheel studs broke off and I'm trying to put in some new ones. I found a couple of good topics on this site on the subject but I had a more specific question.

First of all, the lion's share of my car repair experience has been with my '76 BMW 2002, which is as simple as a car gets. So I'm a bit unfamiliar with car technology post 70s.

Anyways, my question is this: I've got the driver's side brake rotor taken off, and I'm trying to undo the 32mm bold that seems to hold in the plate that the studs are on. I only have the drivers side up in the air, and I'm locked out of the car because my buddy is out of town. I'm using a socket wrench, and I can't get this damned bolt off. Am I doing something wrong here? I feel like I've applied a hell of a lot of pressure to this thing but nothing's happening. Is there a trick? Do both sides need to be up (someone in another topic mentioned that.)

Thanks for your help guys.

Not sure about hondas but the studs on most cars can just be hammered out.

I think you are talking about the axle bolt, try putting a tire(with no hub cap on) over the hub and secure it, but not all the way. Drop the car to were the tire touches the ground and then try turning it. If you are not having enough grip or power, put a bar or pipe over the ratchet and try it.

Hope this helps

Have you un-staked the nut? The "stake" is the little punched-in bit that goes into the slot in the halfshaft nose.

In any case, you won't be able to put in new studs until you disassemble the front wheel-bearing, which requires a press. There isn't enough room between the backing plate and the hub to insert the new studs into the hub holes.

Best writeup w/pic I have seen... http://www.diymyhonda.com/integra/br...l-stud-repair/
Replacing wheel studs on an Integra is a bit of a PITA to do properly, there are a few shortcuts, [like bending the shield, grinding a flat spot on one side of the head of the stud] none of which I recommend, remove the hub and do it properly, replace all 4 while your at it. 94

Have the hub pressed out and replace wheel bearing and studs together
