b16 head or gsr head

Default b16 head or gsr head

I am in the process of taking my head off my gsr and saw some cracks




Are those suppose to be there lol any ways I am doing a rebuild and what head is better for a turbo set up and what head is better for all motor thanks

i must be blind, i dont see any cracks. And imo b16 and gsr heads are the same.

Are you talking about the area I boxed in red?



If so don't worry about that, it is just extra material from when it was cast. Some people when they build their heads "gut" them which is taking all that little extra casting material out for a bit better oil flow.

Second picture looks like it has 3 cracks.. Exhaust cam hold down bolt holes 2 places, 1 by the first cam hold down from the timing gears and the second one back. Intake cam retainer closest to timing gear. (guessing)??

I also see no cracks and nothing unusual. I also feel the GSR and B16 are the same for the most part. If you want a little more compression go with the GSR head.

yea I was talking about that and thanks I thought it was cracked for a minute and wich head is better for all motor b16 or gsr how about for boost thanks

B16 and gsr heads are almost the same. It was already said twice. Gsr heads have a little more compression.
