do i need these parts on the motor
parts 1,3,6
just curious if i needed to get these parts for my swap

not essential. helps keep the T-belt clean though.

needed to start and run the motor? no

needed to keep the timing belt alive for the reccomended service interval? yes

No, but it'll keep dirt n crap off the timing belt. If its street driven, I'd run at least the bottom cover(1).

no seriously, the reason i ask is because it didn't come with the motor i bought and wanted to know if i really needed it. i have one from a b16a and wanted to know if it will fit a b18a1? thanks.

I run with mine off, i know the risk, but if you work on your car as much as i do it makes it a lot easier to take parts off and tune or adjust the belt. Example in one week i took the head off three times. But like everyone else it is safer to keep both on or at least the bottom piece.

The upper pieces won't fit, but the bottom one will.

I have a LS upper peice that will fit if you want it...Its yours for $10 shipped.

You can go by the timing mark on the oil pump.
