Mak th people tuning it pay for it lol. Buy a new block. What bottom end is this? If it's an LS, bare blocks can be had for $100 or less.

It's a gsr b18c1 block.. Had a t3t4 60 trim on it.. Should I go with a ls block? Or should I just get this one sleeved and rebuild the gsr motor? What's better for boost

Lower compression pistons are better for boost. I'm guessing it's a gsr head?

the gsr block is a bit better due to it's factory girdle.

what was the reason for the sleeve cracking? there appears to be some signs of detonation on the pistons if i am seeing it correctly.

Yea, it's called re-sleeving lol (I'm sure you know that), not much else you can do. Hope you got some dough bra.

2 options.

1 resleeve
2 buy new bare block or assembled shortblock.

That's why I have been telling him to just get a new bottom end. So much cheaper than getting the "fixed" or resleeved.

So if I go with a with a new block how do i know this isn't gonna happen again? I thought by getting it resleeved it will be alot stronger then normal....

you still don't know what caused it to crack though, right? the color of your pistons lead me to believe you had a blown headgasket.

I'd resleeve it so you don't crack your sleeves again. How much psi were you at when that happend?

Yea a little bit of positive pressure isn't going to cause a sleeve to crack. And getting it sleeved will make it stronger, but it's gonna cost you a dickload of money. Like stated above, you aren't sure what caused this, but my guess is that there was already a hairline crack forming just from being an old engine, but if you buy a new block just make sure cylinder runout is in spec, basically a perfectly good factory sleeve is not going to do that, even with a little positive pressure ("boost" as they call it).

Ehhh, yea I still highly doubt 15psi on a 60trim would cause that. Only if there was already a hairline crack forming to begin with.

I dont know too much about boost. But could the wastegate have failed and boost spiked for a second and blow the block?
