stock deck replacement
I am buying an '02 Accord Coupe SE. I'd like to replace the factory deck with my Pioneer deck simply because I don't believe I can connect an amp + sub to the stock unit. Does anyone know if such a connection is possible? If I replace the factory deck, can I install the Honda factory deck into a Toyota?
Thanks!
Thanks!
well in actuallity you can install an amp with sub onto the oem radio....though you will require a few parts (and I advocate making the connections behind the radio so that when you want to add a new radio the work is already done
)...a reverse harness ( it plugs into the radio and will provide the amp turn on signal...funny how that works) a line output converter, rca patch cords...dont skimp on these get a decent set...about $20..and finally the adaptor harness for your car ( the same harness you would use if you were replacing the radio)
Now go and have fun

1. You can connect a sub amp to the stock unit. You would need a HIGH-LOW converter. This convertor will convert your speaker wires to rca. The easiest way to hook this up is to the rear speakers in the trunk since your amp is placed there.
However it will sound like crappoola compared to having a pionneer deck.
2. You can buy a reverse harness ($15) that will fit on to the back of the factory honda deck. The other end of this harness has connections for your speakers, power, ground, etc.
Suggestions:
1. Replace your stock deck with a pionner that has subwoofer controls, so you can adjust the volume of the sub from your deck.
2. Replace your interior speakers. Use a 2 way speaker for the front and seperate tweeters.
3. Get 2 10's in a sealed box it will hit tight bass.
4. Get a cheap 1000watt cheesee amp from ebay for $100 bucks. They work really well for subs. Like Crunch Blackmaxx.
5. Make sure you can return the subs in case u dont like the way the sound.
