has the vitara d16 hype died?
i haven't seen very many, if any at all, posts on the vitara build
haven't seen build threads, for sale threads, questions, etc on the topic
have people moved on to something else already?

there are still some diehard D series guys out there ....just not that many because they have mostly grown up and went b h or k ....or domestic V8
vitara setups are still out there. ive still got a set for myself with a sohc in need of a rebuild. ill do it again when the time is right.
i think all car modding is slowing down considerably, given the current economy. this website is evidence of that. these forums used to move multiple pages per day, now we are lucky to get it to move 1 or 2 pages

Tons of vitara builds out there....not everyone post everything up online....I have met several people running them that I have never seen on any forums
People are slowly going B series over in the UK, it makes a lot of sense, we've just done a "high comp" vitara build over here though with a big ported head etc. Spool up is pretty good now.
Who knows since your one of The few that own a set....will you just boost the wagon already
And I wouldn't call the d a hype it has its place in our honda community....the hype or whatever you wanna call it was just sseveral diferent people tying to find the limits of em.....the build are all over the place

Its quite shocking how bad everything has been affected by this recession. Have things started to pick up a bit for you guys or not ? I can't really tell over here, the past few years have all been crap.
Thats **** man, i wouldn't really say i'm struggling but i can certainly say i'm no where near as well off as i use to be. Everything is just so damn expensive now a days. I bet it will be years untill things pick up properly...
BTW, do most of you guys purchase stuff on a credit card where the payment has to be payed off after so long ? Someone said something to me about you only really use & have credit cards over there. So people get into a mess with money quite easy.

I'm not as bad off as others but my car hobby definitely took a hit when I got laid off and had to take a lesser paying job.
A cheap Vitara build fits the bill quite nicely at the moment. I wouldn't call it hype.
Not to go too much off topic but it's actually the other way around. Credit cards get you into a boatload of trouble. If you can't afford to pay the bill in full at the end of the month then don't put it on a card. At all times we only spend what we have on hand unless there's an emergency.

the ONLY good thing about this recession is that it stopped the upward trend in home prices. good meaning it stopped us from paying more for housing along with everything else. over here wages are roughly the same as 2002 but the price of a can of soup or tire have went up around 50%
people get side tracked with the inflation when they see big TV's for $499 and cheap cell phones. the stuff you REALLY need all costs more.

98% of those who use debit cards and credit cards are dumbasses and the reason they get into trouble easily. i happen to fall in the 2% thankfully. i guess some people are too stupid to realize that banks offer over draft protection with debit cards, and that credit cards will get you in more trouble than anything. they spend and spend and before long the interest piles up and they find themselves fighting an uphill battle.
the economy here right now, well, all we can do is just LOL
hopefully
this next election people will wise up and put someone in office who can turn this around or else we might all end up like this --->
back to the OT i would say most people have learned that a d series just isnt going to make the power they are looking for and so they have joined the bandwagon and went b,h, or k series. im sure their are plenty who are still squeezing every bit of power out of their d's as possible if you just search.

So im not the only one who went that route
Well I never had a d series always had a b series but it was quite different when I bough my evo 8 4 years ago. It was like strapping my *** in a rocket. Now its started to feel slow

yeah some people dont know how to live within there means....they max out card after card, make the minimum payment monthly and the credit card companies raise there limits.....next thing you know the 18yr old punk working the drivethru window for 7/hr has 5 cards with a 5k credit limit....all maxed...now the dude has his years salary in debt before he knows what to do.....min payments will take 15years to pay it off, if they dont raise the intrest rates, which they will
my car hobby is just that....a hobby
i fund my car with the pennies and nickles left over after all bills have been paid, i use my debit card for the fact of not having cash on me, it seems to get spent faster in cash form....lol
i've had freinds that will fund a car build on a credit card.....a year later are selling the car for half what they put into it.....yet still have the 10k debt, not getting paid off....its dumb, irresponsible and is going to **** them in the end
i too struggle....but i make it....its not easy
back on topic.....i think that the vitaras are very alive, big name shops pushed to find the limits, set out and made huge numbers, people started buying them like hotcakes.....and as far as i know they are still being sold like crazy, only downside is that as vitaras rose in popularity i have seen a large markup in d-series parts pricing, i used to pick up a complete drop-out for 200-250.....now people want 700-800
