Default Automatic b16a5 Wont Rev in Final Gear?

I did a search and the topic had no answers
The car a a original sir b16a5 automatic not limited to 180kmph as are the jdm models. Car revs healthy and only modifications are a DC sport intake with K&N filter and 2 1/2" exhaust piping with 2 1/2" to 4" barrel (car was bought with this).
The car performs as should in vtec and revs healthy to its redlines at 7200rpm or thereabout but once it goes into final gear in d4 which is at about 160kph it stays at 160 and wont accel more and has a constant rpm of 4k thereabout .

In d3 the car revs exactly to what the manual says which is 178kmph at the redline

Car has 17"x7 O.Z. superleggera's with 205 40 17 tyres.

history on car:
previous owner broke the auto camshaft (didnt know it was possible in an automatic) and it was replaced by a Honda mechanic. Not sure about timing after it was replaced or if an ek (obd2) and not eg cam were used. Would not think it would make a diff and car idles normal (stock), revs like it should and everything else is also normal

Anyone has any suggestions. These ek4 sold locally in my country are supposed to reach to 220kph in d4 and i know of other that do it easily and are stock

Most of Honda-Techs userbase is from North America. We didn't get automatic B-series powered Civics over here. There's only a handfull of people (if that) running this setup on here. Honestly though it sounds like it's running right to me.

yeah i knew the automatic didnt come to the us but figured ht is one f the most diverse honda community website that ill get a hint sooner or later.
the other local model in this country all rev in vtec in their final gear and alos accelerate to 220. mine stays at 160 @4000rpm and does not rev higher nor accelerate. it is not a limiter either since i contacted all previous owners and also because d3 revs to 180kph @7200rpm

All I have to say is a AUTO B16 LMFAO. I know I know they are common outside of the USDM. The B16 auto cams suck as well.

well in my country trinidad a sir cost $25,396 US for an automatic and $27,800US for the manual. Prices here are very high for small difference in cars so laugh at us if you want it was what we could afford in our economy

It isnt normal because sister cars to mine with automatic transmission and locally bought as well make 220kph easily and rev to 7200 rpm in d4 in its final gear while mine doesnt anymore

Wow you are paying that much for a car that old. Si with B16 in the US only comes in 5 spd and you can get the for under $8000 in very good condition. Sorry cant help with the auto issue as I have no experience with has in the US they do not exist.

those were the prices we payed new for them. Used now they go for $10,000-12,000 US for a very good stock (or slightly modded) manual (which in my country is very rare) and $10,000 US for an automatic. i bought mine automatic because it was one of the only models in my country with a full service history from new

is your sisters car exactly the same as yours? same year, engine, model, so on?
why are you driving it in different D's anyways? put it in drive and go.

the other civics are the same the. the reason i drove in different gears is because when i drove in d4 (normal drive) it topped out at 160 which wasnt what was suppose to happen so someone told me to try the lower gear (d3) which also suppose to go above 180kph to make sure the car wasn't doing what it was in d4 to make sure it wasn't limited.

I have plans to change to manual but by the end of the year not now and i want this fixed in the mean while

IIRC the automatics are 4 speed, I don't think D3 will go anywhere near 180mph

Re-read the OP. We're talking KMPH. 180KPH is only about 112MPH.

OK well the original car's manual says d4 suppose to go to its top speed which is 220kph. The firm Classic Motors (Honda dealership in Trinidad) confirmed that d4 goes to top speed which is 220kph and also all other local ek4 automatic owners i know confirmed they took their local ek4's automatic civics to over 200kph in d4
