98 accord wont shift!!! what did i do and what do i do???
man i love my 98 accord v6 vtec but the tranny is horrible. i let my buddy put regular fluid in the tranny n now it shifts/slips bad especially downshifting. already changed it out twice w honda fluid n its still bad if not worse. already ruined 1 motor mount. WHAT DO I DO?
Stop listening to people who have no clue.
Typically a Honda AT needs to be drained three times to completely 'flush' the transmission.
In your case you are doubly ****ed. One due to the uniqueness of the Honda AT you should only use Honda ATF. Two you have a 98-02 4spd AT, these are known to have issues from the factory. Drain the transmission again and put in some good ole Honda ATF. Note on what the fluid coming out looks like, is it dirty, burnt smelling or looks like metal flake paint? What prompted the fluid change?
If your answer for the 'why changed it now?' is because it has 200K + miles on it, that's a bit late in the game to decide to service an overdue trans, you just ****ed yourself.
