Best intake for GSR??
What state? If your in CA your stuck with buying something CARB legal which is expensive. The cheapest way woulb be to make your own or buy the cheapest one you could find on eBay, toss the filter and buy a quality one.

you can buy one of the cheap $20 ones on ebay and then replace the filter with a K&N one. the filter will actually make a difference and you dont want to cheap out on that.
this is the best answer..... just what i did, but i used a better replacement comptech air filter
if any of you guys want a K&N drop in for the stock box i have one in excellent condition sitting in my garage. these filters virtually never wear out so buying used isn't really too big of a deal. of course pics would be provided to any buyer. i'm thinking $40 shipped. cheapest you'll get a new one is $70
I just ordered another short ram for my car because I wanted the couplers to match the red engine bay so for $33 in red, including all hardware on ebay i thought hm why the hell not? (red couplers alone were like $20). I can tell you right now that after installing it on last night, I regret spending that $33.
I've had a cold air intake and I only put it on in the summer, but eventually I took it off because I was scared of hydrolocking. Next I went with a short ram, it was an ebay one so I simply just detach the second pipe. After that, I went back to the stock airbox and custom modified it into a icebox with a flexitube from autozone. And last night, back to a short ram.
Heres my conclusion:
After going through three types of intakes, short, cold, icebox...I think icebox is your best bet.
short ram = warm air from engine bay (warms up faster in winter) but you lose that mid range torque. on the other hand, you hear a nice loud deep growl
cold air = denser cold air from behind the turn signal. good mid range power but very loud (because of the aluminum piping), but prone to hydrolocking
icebox = denser cold air from behind the turn signal. good mid range power but very quiet (it's like a stock airbox but slightly louder), no chance of hydrolocking
I'm going to be swapping the new short ram intake back to my modified icebox. Sad thing is I only had it on for a day, $33 wasted right there. Im probably going to sell it up on craigslist lol.

best bang for the buck: definitely short ram intake all season around. you can pick up those $10-15 eBay short ram and pick up a K&N cone filter ($40-50) or just go with an AEM/Injen short ram for $100ish. If you don't want to spend much and are in need of replacing the OEM filter, then the K&N drop-in filter is the next logical choice.
