Default Just bought Db1!!

Hey people, I just purchased a Db1 today for about 800$...it has some issue idk if it's a rod knocking or valve ticking? Here's a video...any help is appreciated..

Sounds like a combination of the too, a really bad rod knock, and rocker arms ticking.

Puurs like a kitten!!!! just drive it.... jkjk

Well, the fact that its doing it at idle makes me think valve tick, but at the same time it sounds like rod knock. Does it change at all if u give it a lil gas? Not sayin rev it to the moon but just a lil bit of gas. Usually with rod knock itll go away under accel/load then come back under decel.... but then again if its that bad, it might do it no matter what. You cld also pull the VC and check ur valve clearences, and if u find it great! if not u cld pull the pan and windage tray, and grab/check the rods for play.... cuz if its that loud u should be able to move those rods back and forth.

If its the rods, time for a rebuild
If its the rockers, u might be able to get away with a valve lash, but if the valves are that loose itd run like ****. Worst case for the rockers would be a broken rocker in which case ud have to pull the cams and replace ur rocker/rocker seat.

My guess? id have to say rod bearing/rod knock. good luck and keep us updated

Use a stethiscope, like a long extention or breaker bar, hold it to the block and hold it to your ear, if you hear the knocking loud, then it's the rod. Do the same with the head. But that is more rod knock than anything. Sorry to tell you.

Forget taking the car into the shop...I think I'm attempt to do a valve adjustment myself...seems like the only tool I'd really need is the feeler gauge right? N do you guys know the spec of the valve?

Is it intake at .006-007
And Exhaust at .007-008
?

Where are you located? I could help your throw that gsr in there and get it running.

I'm located in the 209 area...n the only problem with the gsr is that it's in my db2 with a vaccum leak..n an oil leak...I'd have to get the head resurfaced with new head gasket

Why would you have to get the head resurfaced and a new hg? The head gasket isn't blown and the car didn't overheat did it?
