91 crx fuel issue, wont start
I have a 91 crx. it started and drove fine at first. Motor and trans were both stock. well it started to not want to start and i would have to leave the key on 3rd click for a few and then it would start, so i change the fuel filter and it still did it. so then i changed the pump to a walbro 255 and it just didnt want to start at all. i did a compression check and it was horrible (i cant remember the numbers). well then i changed the head with a d16z6 vtec head with a new head gasket and timing belt. i also did a mpfi swap with the d16z6 intake but i used obd0 injectors and resistor box and crx si ecu and dizzy. the only way the car will start is with starter fuild so i know the motor runs i just dont know if its not getting fuel or wont stay running on its own. If you have any ideas or suggestions please let me know thanks
Well do u hear the fuel pump prime??? U said u changed the pump is it grounded??? I mean if u have no pressure then the car won't start... I would start w that and check the injectors....
It is getting fuel, i unhooked the fuel line from the fuel rail and had my buddy turn the key and fuel was flowing out like a river. you can clearly hear the fuel pump kick on as well.
You seem to have done alot, have you double checked your mechanical timing and ignition timing? Your MPFI wiring and are you running a resistor box? What distributor are you using? Maybe I'm not understanding your description but I understand it starts with starting fluid and not by itself but does it stay running?
Yeah as long as i keep spraying starter fuild in the intake it stays running, when we swapped the head I timed the motor right. Im using a 91 crx si dizzy and ecu for now just to get it running, then i plan on wiring it obd1 vtec. and yes im using a resistor box for a 90 integra

I guess since you're getting fuel and spark and ignition timing and mechanical timing are all good, you must have old gas in the tank, lines, and rail. Drain the tank, blow out the lines, and the fuel rail, then fill the tank with fresh gas and try starting the car again. Bad gas will not ignite and it only takes a small amount of it in the rail to keep the car from firing up.
If that doesn't help matters, I'd suspect a weak coil in the distributor.
Also, before attempting to start the car, make sure the spark plugs are dry and properly gapped. If they're old, NGKs are cheap so you should throw in some fresh ones.

Thanks for all the help, found out it was bad fuel injectors. now the car is smoking read bad. must be a problem with the headgasket when we switched the head though. once agian thanks for the reply
Im having the same fuel problem.I put a running b16a in my Ef and I have spark, fuel, air but fuel wont gothrew my injectors.I tryed the starter fluid thing and it worked.then I changed my injectors ive tryed Ef single cam,da ones, dsm 275,dsm450 and they all need resistor boxes, and those didn't work so I changed the resistor box 2 times.ive tryed different working dizzys thinking the cam position sensor was bad.
O and I did fuel filter,255 walbro fuel pump and I know I did them right cause the single cam ran for a week untill I did my swap.ive checked the wiring amillon times ive rewied the dizzy just to make sure and still nothing
i would pull your wiring and recheck it. the resistor box and all. use an ohm, meter and pin out all your wires from the ecu to the injectors. then the resistor box. sounds like a wiring issue to me. something isnt let the injector work.
