Default EF ls-v Questions and Build.

Hello HT! I've got my 91 dx that I'd like to do a LS-V swap in. Currently I've already installed an obd0 a jdm b18b with a ys-1 gsr trans, all freshly redone. I absolutly love this swap, so much more umph then the original dual point. Now I'm going to do a obd1 LS-V. I just picked up a spare b18b1 from a 95 ls to use as my base, but I have a few questions on parts to use.

My main question is what kind of bearings should I use? I've hear mixed stories of aftermarket vs. oem. I do plan on a higher comp motor with cams. Should I go with acl bearings or b16/b18c bearings for the bottom end? I do plan on getting the motor ballanced to 10k rpm.

Second question is what kind of power can the stock ls rods hold and will they hold up to the higher comp and increased rpm?

What are my piston options? I'm not going turbo, but I'd like to do nitrus eventualy. I'd rather stay with some type of honda or acura pistons, but what will bump up my comp to the 11-12 range? I'd like to get them ceramic coated for the nitrus.

Will the stock cylinders hold up to the comp I'd like to run and the nitrus in the future. (Do plan on using s300 for tuning after build)

Which head would be a good option for this? I've heard the pr8 heads (please correct me if i'm wrong) have the best flows but they're hard to find and the ITR Heads are expensive.

Trying to do this build on some sort of budget, ie. not have to buy new rods or crank, which will save be a couple hundred bucks. Still doing research on all of this but would like some input from the comunity. I'm relitively new to hondas this will be my 3rd build, and my first experience with v-tec. Thanks!

Based on the questions you're asking here, you should hit up the forced induction forum.

If your budget isn't too big I'd go with a gsr head w/ aftermarket intake manifold to get rid of the double butterflies and maybe do a port and polish. Nothing too big, I'd try and stay oem but sometimes oem can be more expensive and you can probably get better performances or relability from the acl bearings. And I've never heard of a pr8 head I thought all b series vtec head were either stamped with pr3 then a number or p72 for the gsr

I don't want to go forced induction though. Just a reliable 200+ horse na car.

I think the pr8 head was off of the b20z, forgot what forum I read that on.

Well if you went with the b20 head then that wouldn't be an ls/v build, just go with the gsr head and aftermarket manifold combo, I think you see a nice platform for nos with that, and you might swell spend the money for some eagle rods instead of ls rods if you plan to go nos, I mean I'd feel a lot better with them

rods snap because of the higher compression. nitrous pretty much does the same thing so people ore familure with boost will better answer your question about the rods. what shot are you looking to push?

i know lower shots wont be an issue. brothers b18 held 100shot easily. (not sure which b18 it was though)
