houston: Oct 13th autoX
Anybody going? Hoping to wake up early enough to register for the morning heat and be in STD...otherwise I'll run in the afternoon as DSP.
What have you done to the car to be in STS?
I plan on being there.... Event 10 layout
Was at a Pensacola, FL region autocross September 22 while on vaction...was murder on my BFG KDW's to say the least - high speed course of close to a mile in length... That one event put more wear on the front tires than all the autocrosses I've done locally on the tires.... was a blast though and they are big into the Mod and Homebuilt classes compared to here (think V8 engines in formula chassis). Got a lot of cool footage and 7 runs (one fun run included)! Was nice to experience autocrossing a little differently in Pensacola. Well mostly differently - there was a dang old guy in a STOCK Chevy S-10 there that bettered my Tacoma....rrrrRRRR those dang S-10ss!!!! Some things never change....
Side note: the runs were done in Heats, where you would run two heats that consisted of 3 runs each. The S-10 and were both in the 2nd and 4th heats. 2nd heat was in the warm/hot sun mid morning - I was faster than he was. 4th heat was in late afternoon (Isadore was rolling nearby and everything cooled down fast towards the end of the 3rd heat) and he was faster than I was when it was all said and done. Ah well, it's all good fun..even if he wasn't in my class. BTW I was lumped in with a mean little old VW scirocco in FSP....it wasn't pretty for me. Not sure why I was put into FSP, but I was just there to have fun anyways.

Excellent...now I've got motivation to be there.
I usually run in STD because it's a street tire class...don't want to to compete with the big boys on R compounds. Were you at the BMWCCA last time?
I'll keep an eye out for you guys.
BTW, Eric, you're fast. I just checked out the event results.

. I dont want to be competitive in the Houston region, I want to compete against the big boys at Tours, divs, and Nationals in the STS class, I have a long way to go. Maybe move on to the SP class once I graduate college. So Jesse, I assume you will show up in the Integra? What color? I'll be there early with the Black GSR. My number is 77 with the Nathaniels Performance magnets.
Oh yeah that was you at the BMW event. I was there also, in the green 96 GS-R. It was my first time back into autoXing in a long while. I used to go out to the blimp base alot a few seasons back, but I was never competetive with Don (but then I don't think he had the R back then).
I'll seeya Sunday.

I'm assuming it's at gulf greyhound? The FC hasn't seen an autox course in 3 or 4 months, and with the azenis being mounted tommorow I think it's time for some action...bwhahahah

Depending on whether or not I've washed my car, it may still have the autoX numbers from the BMW event in shoepolish.

Great event. Weather was wonderful. The track was a virtual copy of the National course, south.
Jesse it was good to meet you. Sorry we didnt get to talk. I had both of my boss's there. Had to make sure they were happy, since one was driving. Double driving the car is a lot of work!
Houston Region Rocks!

same to you Eric. It was my first time back in an SCCA event in a while, besides the BMWCCA autoX. I was focused on remembering how to drive again.
I realized I know my car very well...well enough to comfortably toss it into a corner, coax the end out and catch it. It's fun but unfortunately it's s l o w. I only managed one clean run of a humble 62 seconds. I need to get re-acquainted with proper lines and braking points. You did well, good job!
I'll see ya out there next time.

Definately, see ya next month. You should come out on Sat and Sun. We are going to have two events.
The car felt really good! I think I beat everyone in street tires by over a second, except for my co-driver, Mark Dundas. I think he was 4 tenths behind my last run with his final run but he snagged a cone.
Mark Dundas holds the track record at Texas World Speedway in the Spec Miata class. His twin brother Rod Dundas holds the track record there too in the Spec Racer Ford class. Going fast is in their blood! Mark had not autocrossed in 15 years. He was a little rusty and had never driven my car before. I think he would have had a better time than me given one more lap. He just kept getting faster as he learned the track and my car.
I think vtec really helped with this track, I really got to open it up.

I forgot to ask what suspension you're running? I remembered you said rear ITR bar...and I noticed that when your car was 3 wheeling it thru the tight turns.
Your car looked very planted. Good setup you got there. If you're ever thinking of going to DSP, my friend is selling Kumho V700's in your size.

I have thought about it. I will have to see how competitive I would be. The Bimmers just kick butt in DSP. I also dont have the money to spend to prep the car to be competitve in that class. I dont have extra set of wheels.
It is an Apexi coilover setup.
