Hatch CEL, idle, and smoking problems - HELP ASAP PLEASE
i have a 93 civic hatch cx model, it has a stock b18b1 the car has been sitting for 2 weeks.
it starts but throw a check engine light the rpm stays high (1950) does not stay at idle (900 or 750), then it starts smoking like smoke only when it reaches operating temperature, its not the head gasket cause i did a compression test, i dont know if its running to lean, but it was not doing that 2 weeks ago, and help would be appreciated where to start looking or what to try or change thx
ps is there a way to check the engine code with a scanner cause i cant see a plug to check it

its like white but clear ish not clouds of smoke just constantly coming out i am in the process of checking the code i did not know how but going to jump a little connector on the passanger right? paper clip and see how many time the light flashes
you should have a small plug on the right side of the floor board. https://honda-tech.com/forums/showth...ht=engine+swap scroll down a bit and theres info and pics with a list of codes and how to read them.
ok coming back with the code and sorry for that title thanks for the fix,, ok it blinked fast 6 times i looked at the key legend and it said ECT water temperature sensor, but can that make it smoke or run like that
A bad ECT sensor or circuit can cause the engine to run rich (black smoke). It's the 2-wire sensor below the distributor. Measure the resistance across the two sensor terminals when the engine is hot.

ok sorry sorry sorry,,, i rechecked my codes this is what happens the check engine light comes on for like 1 second turns off then like 3 seconds later followed by 6 quick flashes um i really dont know how to read the codes but maybe a video may help by anychance
ok well i check the resistance it measured 0.589 on the sensor it self and on the connector it read OL as in nothing so would be having a bad sensor or bad wires
What Ohm scale did you use? It should be a scale near 200-400 Ohms, which is the spec reading for the sensor, not the wire harness connector.
i use it where the ohM is at and it read 459 den kept moving to 358 then to 589 sorry is just added the 0. lol but thats what i read on the sensor
PA I SHOULD OF ADDED THAT MY FAN NEVER TURN ON ALSO BUT I JUMP IT TO BATTERY AND KICKED ON
