Default Aftermarket projector headlights rating?

So, I'm sure everyone has seen those Ebay/Aftermarket headlights with the projectors already in them. I know, they seem "rice" but come to think of it, I might want to buy a pair. I'd rather not do a retrofit and spend more money on just the projectors themselves when I could just buy the housing with them already it in. My main question is, are they just for halogens? I'm sure there are some with HID projectors. I've might have seen two or three listed on Ebay. Anyone have these headlights? Good or bad rating? Don't want to spend a lot more just for clear lens housings and $200 - $300 projectors and a retrofit I have never done before.

The halos seem pretty damn sick, to be honest.

There are some that actually produce a sharp cut-off, but the beam pattern under the cut-off is horrible.

Here's a few photos of ebay projectors.

Thanks for the pics. I might just get them. It's better than PnP in stock housing with the flared glass lenses. All I need is a sharp cut off. I need the ones that can fit any HID instead of the "special" size that the brand makes.

you have to also realize that the ebay projectors are really meant for halogens not hids.. most of the ebay ones dont have a great cutoff and dont have the width of the hid projectors..

Good point. I have a feeling that when they say "HID compatible", it just means that there's a PnP kit that will fit it. Not that the reflective surface can withstand the heat and UV exposure of the different lighting source. I'd like to see what the bowls look like after a year of use.

usually with those projectors, the bowl is small.. the chrome might last but the bowl is still small.. so it probably wont produce good output

That's why I am trying to find one that is made for HIDS. I mean, I'm sure they make them. I don't think it's easy to find. >_<

no they dont make them.. none of them are made for hids.. if that was the case, they would cost more than 200 or 300...

Yeah agreed. Funny how I was just looking at this set of halo projectors and they come with HIDs, when they're not even made for it. They look really nice though.

what kind of car do you have? you could look into the morimoto minis.. most of the time they are a pnp projector into stock housings.. it'll cost you about the same as the ebay projectors if you do the labor yourself..

I have a 95 4dr civic. Looking at the morimotos they're about 200? + Buying new headlights with clear covers which is about another 100, then labor of retrofitting it, which I don't want to **** up because I've never done it. That's why I'd rather just go half *** with the halogen projectors rather than to just leave them in my flared oem glass headlights. It's cheaper to buy the headlights for about $170.

with the minis its pnp.. so all you need to really do is pull the lens off the clear lens headlights and bolt in the mini projector.. the minis is 200 for the whole setup.. not just the projectors..

Really? Word. Sounds good. I'll check it out thanks. I always have this fear of getting my headlights hit by someone with a bat or whatever just to break them for the hell of it.
