Default swap questions

I have a chance to do my first swap but I do have some questions first.

The car I am looking at is a 91 integra 5speed LS. I have access to a 96 gsr complete swap (ecu, harness, motor, tranny, everything but radiator). My biggest question is how difficult is this gonna be?(ie. Do I need other parts besides what I have and motor mounts? The car still has the engine in it but has a blown head gasket. I will be buying both items for 500 a piece. Any insight is helpful. I have worked on my old 99LS and my 01 gsr but never have I done a swap.

well, i always thought that swapping an engine was insanely hard and i could never ddo it.
Until one day my car blew up and i was in a bind so i did it, and realized its actually really easy if you have a lift and some mechanical knowledge!

I say do it, if the integra is in good shape. Your going to have to use a different ecu, stock harness, just run 3 wires to ecu for vtec and knock sensor, other than that youll be good to go if im not forgetting anything, everything will drop right in.

It should be a direct bolt in. Just pull the old motor out and put the new one it. I would say the toughest part would be swapping the harness over to obd2. I would go for it because you are getting both things for a steal. Let me know what you are trying to do witht he LS bottom end afterwards, I'm looking for a spare bottom end to build on the side.

Will the harness and ecu from the 96 gsr not bolt in and run in the car? I know mechanically i can do this but my problem is the electrical side. Also the gsr engine has been sitting for about 2 years. Should I be worried? It ran fine last time it was started after the accident.

The gsr ecu will work, I recommend using it. The engine should be fine, Just change fluids and spark plugs/wires. Should run fine.

Damn that sucks. You still pickin up the ls with a blow hg for $500? I would. That's a deal. You could get that thing running, tune up, brakes, bushings, for another $500 and it will be a nice DD.

I would but I have an 01 gsr for my dd. The ls is very nice and looks to be in great shape. I was gonna get this as a project car and one for me and my nephew to work on. The engine was from his wrecked integra and I was trying to make his car come back to life for him in a sense. Oh well. Guess there is always next time.

**** I would still get it for a project. It's a rare occurance to find a good condition da for anywhere near that price, even with a blown hg.

Yeah i know but I don't need another car and I have no where to put it. We were going to do the swap at the car lot where he worked the day we picked up the car. That's why i was asking the questions ahead of time cause we would've had 2 days over the weekend to complete the swap. Since I live in a condo i have no place to put a project car that doesn't run at all. I went threw that with my hoa last time when i had my turboed civic there. It didn't end well for me.

Where is it located? For that price I would be willing to make the trip lol I have two spare LS heads I could slap on there and get that thing running for no more than a head gasket lol
