Default Engine Internal Question

So first thing, I have researched a bit but didn't find much in the way to answer my question. When replacing rods in the engine, whats the difference between I and H beam rods? Yes obviously one looks like an I and one like an H. Any main reason to choose one over the other?

h are normally stronger and require notching of the block but most i beam rods you do not need to notch the block or girddle

This is not research. This is spoon-feeding. If you search you will find that some rods need the blocks notched for clearance issues.
