starting problem 91 ed6
hi guys i have a 91 ed6 hatchback well first it started as the clutch not working properly fixed it it was the regulator then to start the car u have to push the clutch in all the way as hard as u can and get lucky if the scar starts any ideas?
Does the clutch engage like it should? On my hatch I dont need to press in the clutch to start. Does your main relay click when you have the ignition in the second position? Hearing the click and Fuel pump when the CEL comes on and off. Can you give us a little better of a discription on what happens and what you do when you try to start the car versus when it starts.
well i hear the fuel pump i have had main relay problems before and i know for sure its not that everything engages my dad said something about a switch that goes on when u press the clutch that lets the car turn on any input?
yeah the switch that closes when your foot on the clutch allows power to the ignition switch. Mine's bypassed like 90civic-ZC's is. That could be bad on your's.

Yeah I know what you're refering to but since I dont have it I cant speak on any experience of having it go bad. Is it a sensor of some sort? and did you also replace that part with the clutch or were you trying to say that it could be a problem?
all i had to do was regulate it back basicly tighten it because it was lose and do u have any info on how to bypass it and where exactly is it located>?
so i fixed the starting problem but after all these problems dealing with the clutch my clutch finally died at 132,500 miles
so time for a new clutch

Glad you got it running. Btw, the clutch switch is often referred to as the neutral safety switch. Now, before you go snatching the trans out for a new clutch, try adjusting the clutch cable again. Since you tightened it up, there's a good chance you got it too tight which would not allow your pressure plate to clamp down on the clutch with all its might, thus causing the clutch to slip. Try to loosen the cable up until you have about an 1/8" of space between the throwout bearing and pressure plate. If the clutch still slips after that, replace it.
