A quick Y1 and YS1 axle question
This is for a friend of mine that had bought a crappy swapped B18b1 with P8R head with Y1 tranny in his EF. So he decided he just wanted the car to run so we went to the junkyard and pulled a B18a1 with a YS1 tranny out of a DA. We swapped the motor and tranny since the motor ran like **** for obvious reasons and the Y1 was grinding or missing 3rd. The car now runs fine with the B18a1 with YS1 tranny but I noticed that his axles were loose inside the transmission, especially the passenger one. I don't know much about the car except for what I've ran into while doing the swap and no idea what the previous owner was evening trying to accomplish. Therefor I have no idea what axles are in it. I understand that the swap we did came out of a DA but after some researching I didn't come up with too much as far as my question being if the Y1 axles (which I assume are the ones in the car) will work for the YS1? Or if there has to be axle and intermediate shaft mix matching. If someone knows the answer or maybe has a web site that I could read that would be greatly appreciated.
Axles should be identical (under the impression that both cars with the ys1 and y1 had the axles replaced with the proper ones the life of the car)
There's only one car though, my friends EF had the Y1 tranny when he bought it but we put the YS1 in it. But the axles seem to be loose inside the tranny. I just don't understand it.....
