Default weird coolant leak in B18b1

Ok, so i parked my car today and saw smoke coming from the bay, i shut the car off and i popped the hood just to see coolant pouring out of my water pump. I let it sit for 2 hours and then went back out to see what was wrong. I filled it back up with water and started the car, didn't see any more leaks or anything. My radiator took about 3/4 a gallon of water, so it wasn't completely empty. I'm going to replace my water pump tomorrow but what my question is "what could have leaked and then just stopped?"

btw, my car is a 93 Civic with a b18b1 swap.

any help is appriceated!

oh yeah, i did use the search and i even googled, i found nothing related to Integra motors.

Seals probably going, but not completely gone. There is normally a pressure spike right after you turn off the engine, as the heat no longer has anywhere to go (coolant not circulating)... so, that's often when you see the leak. At other times, with lower pressures, no visible leak.

Tomorrow's work should take care of it!

Thanks so much! That does explain why it would do it. So should I replace just the seal or the whole pump? I hear that just replacing the seal would work but I'm not sure about the mileage on the pump itself, I'd rather be safe than sorry.

You need to replace the pump and seal. Replace the timing belt while you're in there and closely inspect the front crank/cam seals. If there's any leakage, replace those too.
