Default dunlop direzza dz101 vs yakohama s drive??

Which tire is better for daily driver? I live in socal so id need all season. I know the dunlop grip real well during dry season, but I'm a bit more concerned for rain season, anyone ever hadd the dunlop in rain? I've also read something about after 10k miles they become loud tires, is that true? Which would you guys recommend? Any experiences with them in dry or wet weather? I've read good things about the s drives as well that they do good in rain, and quiet tires. But everyone has had good and bad experiences with both I'm sure. Socal I jus get rain.

Both tires are decent tires. I don't have personal experience with the S-Drives on my personal car, so I am going to have to vote for the Dunlops. I never had any problem in the rain. As far as them becoming loud after 10k is complete bs, somebodies alignment was off or there was a lack of proper tire rotating and balancing.

S-Drives will be the next tires i'll run for my daily. All reviews on them seem to be positive. Good initial grip, quiet, last a long time. Darnizzle is right that probably happens to people that don't properly take care of them.

Summer tires, in general, are better than all season tires in the wet. The really high grip "extreme performance" summer tires can be an exception to this, but even then not all of them (the RE-11s on my Integra have been fantastic in the rain so far).

It is cold temperatures and snow/ice that presents problems for summer tires.

No personal experience with the DZ101 or S Drives though.

DZ101s are a little better dry, but the s.drives win when it's raining, especially if your city uses tape instead of paint for road stripes and stop lines. Have both on fat fives...but they're on the shelf and I'm driving with snow tires right now. Stupid Chicago weather.

Opinions formed over about 40k on the DZ101s and about 20k on the s.drives.

Ive recommended DZ101's time and time again. They are great tires, decent in the rain, exceptional summer grip, and they look great.

Dunlop Direzza DZ101 gets my vote

I havent driven the 101. I have been impressed with the s.drive. They have good wet and dry grip for the money. Im sure the 101 are similar. I think the s.drive are a little more expensive. If you get the s.drive you should be really happy with them.

My city uses paint, not tape. Which tires would I get more miles out of? The 101 or s drives? You said 40k on the 101s and 20k on s drives?

I have the Dunlops on my boosted integra. I'm making just a little over 300whp. I drove the car up until about 2 weeks ago. I have no complaints about them at all. Did great in the spring and summer. Also seemed fine in the fall and into the start of winter. Driving in the rain was no problem either.

Hello,

I have recently installed Dunlop Direzzas DZ101 on my 2007 Honda Accord.
I'm experiencing a extremely loud hum at all speeds. it's extremely bothersome.
I was told by the rep at tire kingdom where I had them aligned that the thread design was going to be loud but this is TOO LOUD (not normal)
I had the tires originally mounted and balanced at a mom and pop shop, can it be the balancing? I do experience some vibration under breaking at 70-80mph.
the tires have 1800 miles on them the car has 50000 miles.
don't think it's the suspension components as it was quiet with the stock michelins.
I am afraid that driving them like this may cause more problems...
any help would be appreciated.

thank you

Assuming your tires have been run at recommended PSI and that there are no signs of irregular wear (cupping, etc), I'd have them rebalanced by someone that has a Road Force balancing machine and have them check the wheels for any issues as well (more to address the vibration issue than the road noise).
