flushing radiator
Sup yall, I'm trying to flush my radiator and the directions state I should turn my heater all the way up. The problem is I don't have a climate control, is it alright if I jumped the fans instead?
What does jumpering the fans have to do with that? The purpose of turning the heater "all the way up" is because some vehicles won't flow coolant through the heater core unless the heat is on. This could be due to the way the coolant is let in through a valve; be it controlled by vacuum, electronic, or mechanically. On '88-91 Civic/CRX's they use a mechanical valve hooked up to the climate control **** that controls temperature.
Now that that's out of the way... The purpose of turning the heat on is so that no air pockets will form in the heater core and cause cooling system problems down the road. I assume that since you have no climate control - you have no heater core either. If you still do you can just manually open the valve from the engine bay. If you don't this section doesn't apply to you and your process.
