Default Factory Alarm

hey guys, i recently did a search on why my alarm could have stopped working? Its the factory alarm with the same-old remote. The remote unlocks and locks the car, but does not Beep after pushing the lock botton twice like it used to. It also does not honk when i press the panic button. Can it just be the battery in the remote?

I read up on a previous post like this and they gave a procedure on how to possibly fix this? something about turning the key to a certain position and pulling it out a certain number of times. Well, i can't find that thread again and was wondering if any of you know what the hell i'm talking about...any help would be nice.

You must be thinking of Valet Mode. It's worth a shot, here. https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-civic-2001-2005-78/car-alarm-2385865/

to turn the alarm back on, do the following 3 times:
1) insert key into ignition (don't turn the key)
2) remove key from ignition

Let us know if that works or not.

Hm, that didn't work.... I tried it several times and nothing.
I'm going to try replacing the battery in the remote just to see what happens.
I'll let you guys know what happens.

Hmmm.....

Does your horn work? I mean when you push the button on the steering wheel, not when you're using the remote.

yes, the horn works fine. Its just not honking on the second time i click the lock botton...that and of course, the alarm itself. i'm replacing the battery as we speak.
