1998 accord 2.2 vtec misfire
I have a 98 accord f23 vtec 5 speed and the other day it started running bad and the CEL came on. So i scanned it and it had a cylinder 2 misfire code. I pulled the plugs and cyls #1, #3 and #4 all looked the same, but cyl #2 was a little darker but not wet with gas. So I threw in 4 new plugs and changed the wires and cap and rotor with used but known good parts and cleared the code but it still lacked power, shaked at idle and the CEL came back on and flashing after about 20 seconds of running. I checked the fuel pressure and its good. So then I checked the injectors by letting it run and disconnecting them one at a time, and #2 was the only one that didn't affect anything when disconnected. So before pulling the fuel rail i check the injector drivers with a noid light and they were working fine. So i pulled the rail and switched the injector with #4 and that didnt fix it, still missing on cylinder #2. I then disconnected #2 plug wire and the engine didn't run any different and checked it with a spark tester and it was fine so i figured that wasn't it. Then a compression test...all cylinders were about 180 psi so the head gasket is probably good. I am lost on what to do next and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Joe, I just went thru several days of chasing cylinder misfire codes myself on my new clunker, a 96 automatic. Several members pointed me to the FAC section that showes how to clean the EGR ports, check it out and if your set up is like the FAC,s, that may solve your problem.......it did mine.
